PIR Enhancements

The PIR module in DataEngine was specifically designed to assist you in preparing your annual Program Information Report (PIR).    When you use ChildPlus to generate your PIR, you can export your PIR from DataEngine and then import it into Xtria's web-based PIR reporting system.  Because ChildPlus allows you to import this information, there is no need for you to hand enter your PIR information.

Tip:  Because DataEngine allows you to export your PIR data, there is no need for you to hand enter your PIR information.  Instead, you can just import each PIR you generate using DataEngine into Xtria's web-based PIR reporting system.

Changes for 2006-2007 PIR

ChildPlus optimized the way DataEngine calculates each PIR.  As a result, it now takes less time to perform PIR calculations.  The following table summarizes the additional changes that ChildPlus made for the 2006-2007 PIR:

Question

Description

A.3

This question was revised for the 2006-2007 PIR.  Questions A.3.a and A.3.b no longer exist and were replaced by question A.3.

A.15

This question was revised for the 2006-2007 PIR.  It now asks for the total actual enrollment of children.  Last year's end of month enrollment questions, formerly A.15 (a-c), were removed.  In addition, the End of Month Enrollment Comments section was also removed since it is no longer applicable.

A.18

Pregnant mothers must have a birthday entered in DataEngine in order to be counted towards this question.

A.24

Classrooms must now have a least one enrolled participant in order to be counted for this question.

C.9

ChildPlus added the PIR C.9 tab to the Enrollment screen.  This tab allows you to specify how you want a child counted towards question C.9 on the PIR.  You can choose whether you want DataEngine to:

  • automatically determine if the child should be counted for question C.9 (this is the default option).

  • automatically count the child towards question C.9 (regardless of his/her health care status).

  • prevent the child from being counted towards C.9 (regardless of his/her health care status).

C.9.a

If a child is counted for question C.9, he/she will also be counted for this question if he/she has a health event and either the Treatment Needed, Formal Evaluation, or Follow-up Assessment box is checked.  In addition, the health event must have occurred within the operating period or 12 months prior to the date entered on the Mapping tab for question C.9.

C.9.b

If a child is counted for question C.9.a, he/she will also be counted for this question if the event that counted towards C.9.a contains at least one action with Received Treatment checked.  In addition, the action must have occurred within the operating period or 12 months prior to the date entered on the Mapping tab for question C.9.

C.16

DataEngine no longer includes pregnant mothers in the count for this question.

Tip:  There are two documents that may assist you in completing your PIR. The DE PIR Calculation Guide provides details on how ChildPlus calculates each PIR question and, if applicable, which PIR Audit Report you can use to verify PIR calculations.  This document is available for download on the ChildPlus website at:

http://www.childplus.com/document/DE_PIR_Calculations_Guide.pdf

For more information about changes to this year’s PIR and/or assistance in interpreting PIR questions, refer to Xtria’s PIR documentation at https:\\www.pirweb.net.

Tip:  Several PIR Audit Reports were also modified for the release of version 1.27.  Click here for more information.

Fixes

The following table lists the fixes that ChildPlus incorporated into the release of DataEngine version 1.27:

Screen

Description

Paper Applications - Family Information

If you select Formerly on TANF/Not Now as the family's TANF Status in DataEngine, then ChildPlus will automatically check the No box for TANF Status on the Family Information paper application.

Program Information

ChildPlus revised the error message that displays if you attempt to change the Begin Date for a program term to a date that occurs after the Enrollment Date of participants. This message was revised to make the error easier to understand. It now reads:

Participants are enrolled prior to the begin date of the program term.

Validation Codes

Any new validation codes that you create in DataEngine will now be available in the system as soon as you save them.  In previous releases, newly created validation codes were not available until you exited and then restarted DataEngine.

Reports

ChildPlus both enhanced and modified existing reports for the release of 1.27.  Because many of these
fixes were minor, we have only listed changes that directly affect users in this document.   The
